خانم لوپن گفت که نه از نیکولا سارکوزی حمایت می کند و نه از رقیب سوسیالیست او، فرانسوا اولاند.

نظرسنجی های انجام شده حاکی است که آقای اولاند، نامزد سوسیالیست ها همچنان از آقای سارکوزی پیشتاز است.

آقایان سارکوزی و اولاند چهارشنبه گذشته در مناظره ای تلویزیونی شرکت کردند که تخمین زده شده ۱۷.۹ میلیون نفر بیننده این برنامه بودند.

در مرحله اول انتخابات که در روز ۲۲ آوریل (سوم اردیبهشت) برگزار شد، آقای سارکوزی تنها ۲۷.۳ درصدآرا را به خود اختصاص داد، در حالی که فرانسوا اولاند توانست ۲۸.۶ درصد آراء را از آن خود کند.

این اولین‌بار در چند دهه اخیر است که یک رئیس‌جمهور فرانسه در اولین دور انتخابات ریاست‌جمهوری از رقیب خود عقب می‌افتد.

در صورت پیروزی فرانسوا اولاند، او اولین رئیس‌جمهور چپگرای فرانسه از زمان فرانسوا میتران، رئیس جمهور فرانسه در فاصله سال‌های ۱۹۸۱ تا ۱۹۹۵ میلادی، خواهد بود.
